Journey to Net Zero
McCormick has committed to using science-based targets to achieve greenhouse gas emission reductions in line with limiting climate warming to 1.5°C by 2030 and achieving Net Zero by 2050.
From our supply chain to our operations and beyond our organization, we’re taking steps to reduce the environmental impact of our collective operations. We remain committed to our near-term 2030 and 2050 net zero targets. Both have been validated by the Science Based Targets initiative.
McCormick has committed to using science-based targets to achieve greenhouse gas emission reductions in line with limiting climate warming to 1.5°C by 2030 and achieving Net Zero by 2050.
Our strategy to decarbonize our operations includes driving energy efficiencies and transitioning to renewable energy.
Over 95% of McCormick’s carbon footprint is from Scope 3 emissions, which are those within our value chain. To achieve our near-term and net zero targets we must partner with suppliers to share best practices.
We partnered with an external consultant to conduct Climate Scenario Analysis (CSA) and assess potential risks and opportunities, and financial impact from different climate scenarios. These included physical risks such as those due to major weather events, and transition risks such as carbon pricing, evolving investor and consumer expectations, emerging regulations and changes in technology. Additional details can be found in our Taskforce on Climate-related Financial Disclosures table.
