National Volunteer Week 2025

National Volunteer Week

National Volunteer Week is a yearly celebration of all the people who have dedicated themselves to the noble cause of volunteerism. Volunteers play a crucial role in creating strong, vibrant communities— putting in their personal time, and effort to create meaningful change. At McCormick, we place great value on volunteerism, which is reflected through our Power of Giving program. This program brings together our corporate, regional, and country-specific initiatives to empower employees to support causes they care about through matching gifts, volunteer time off, and community service.

This week is a chance for us to put a few of these heroes front and center, celebrating their impact on society as well as inspiring others to join in. With that being said, we are delighted to share the volunteering journeys of three of our colleagues on this occasion:

1. Brier Barclay, SEO Analyst, Canada, is involved with West Niagara Special Olympics in multiple ways— she coaches a variety of sports teams, sits on the Community Council and Event Committee, and runs their social media channels.

Brier’s connection to the Special Olympics runs deeper than supporting her sister, who also participates in Special Olympic sports, it now extends to the larger community of athletes, coaches, volunteers and parents/caregivers who inspire her to keep volunteering with this organization several times a week. She shares: “Attending practices and tournaments with my team(s) is the highlight of my week and I love being able to see the impact sport and the Special Olympics community has on those involved.”

2. Troy Abmeyer, Crew Lead, U.S.A., splits his spare time between two non-profit organizations, Diversified Freedom and Fish-For Tales, both of which work with special needs kids, adults, and veterans in Missouri. He joins others in coordinating fishing and boat rides, for the community, followed by a luncheon and an awards ceremony. “Seeing the children smile when they catch their first fish and hearing the stories of the veterans while out on the lake is like nothing I have ever experienced,” Troy says. He cherishes the time he spends with the community and, like a true volunteer, shares that “both groups give me more on those days than I could ever give them".

3. Niki Wilson, Category Manager II, U.S.A., volunteers with For the Love, a non-profit committed to feeding the hungry and cultivating community through shared meals.

Through Neighbor Nights, Niki shares a meal with different members of her neighborhood on a weekly basis, cutting across socio-economic backgrounds to build authentic relationships.  She says that with each meal, they “fill the stomach so we can feed the soul.”

Thank you to all of our employee volunteers who embody the spirit and power of giving! You continue to inspire each one of us at McCormick to make the world a better place.
